The First Samoan Congregational Christian Church of Alameda was founded in 1976 in the City and County of Alameda, in the State of California. Reverend Lefeagai Taamu and his beloved late wife Pisi began the ministry and became the very first pastor of the Church. When God called Mrs. Pisi Taamu to her heavenly home, Rev. L. Taamu remarried to Faletua Savali and they continued the ministry. In 1992, Rev. Saiaiga Itula and his wife Talanoa assumed the pastorship for the next eight years. Their leadership culminated in the acquisition of the current Church Building in Oakland. From its beginning, the First Samoan Church of Alameda maintains denominational affiliations with the United Church of Christ (UCC) and also the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa (CCCS). The formation of the Congregational Christian Church of American Samoa (CCCAS) in 1980 necessitated a change of denominational affiliation through the San Francisco Association and the Northern California Conference of CCCAS Churches.
